Chipping Proceedures

The following is a list of procedures that the NARPC will follow in the assigning and chipping of the birds in regards to the Unikon electronic clocking system. Your timely help and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

First of all, each of you will need to obtain small 2 ¼” X 3 ½” envelopes for each pigeon to be chipped. These are available at any of the office supply stores locally. On this envelope we need you to list the following information

1) The bird’s complete band registration number. This must include the affiliation (this will be AU or IF for most of you), year, club abbreviation and number.

2) The bird’s sex

3) The bird’s color

4) Note if the bird is an NARPC auction bird.

Please make this as neat and readable as possible. We will have to read about 1000 of these and we would hate to miss read one.

Inside this envelope please place one (1), green, Unikon chip ring. We will then inventory the birds and assign their chip at the same time. Also, be sure to include your Unikon module so that the bird inventory can be saved to your module.

We can not stress enough the importance of submitting your chips on time. You do not have to actually place the chip on the birds until the day you ship the first race if you choose, but we will not perform any assignments of chips the day of the race. If the bird has not been chipped before the day of shipping, they will not be accepted into the race. There will be no exceptions!
